Will AI Replace Tarot Readings? The Truth From a 15-Year Tarot Reader
Share
Lately, I’ve been engaging with psychics, astrologers, numerologists, palmists, and fellow tarot readers about whether AI will eventually replace us, because we've seen how AI has entered almost every industry, including the mystical world of tarot.
As someone who has been reading tarot for over 15 years, I’ll be the first to say it:
AI is impressive. VERY Impressive when it comes to identifying tarot card symbolism and explaining meanings clearly and logically.
AI also does a fantastic job connecting cards to common questions (love, career, money, purpose), offering structured, detailed interpretations
So yes, AI can do Tarot Readings. But can AI really replace us, Tarot Readers?
There have been moments I’ve read AI's interpretation of Tarot Cards and thought, Wow… that’s actually really good. So good, in fact, that part of me wishes it had existed when I first started learning tarot. It would have saved me years of study, confusion, and second-guessing.
But even when AI is incredible at recognizing patterns, symbolism, and meaning, and it can deliver information in seconds (which makes it an amazing educational tool for beginners and students of tarot), it will never replace a real tarot reader.
Not now.
Not in the future.
Not ever.
And the reason why goes deeper than most people realize.
1. AI Can Interpret Cards, But It Has No Intuition
Ai can tell you what The Tower represents, what the Three of Cups means in love, or how The Hermit connects to introspection. That’s because AI works with the occult knowledge printed on the cards. But tarot is not just information.
Tarot is energy, and there are different types of readers that tap into the magic of tatot so we have: Psychic tarot readers (guided by spirit or entities), Intuitive tarot readers (read through emotional and intuitive perception), and Symbolic tarot readers (read the language, archetypes, and structure of the cards like myself)
AI falls strictly into the symbolic category. It can analyze symbols. It can explain meanings. It can even connect themes. But it cannot feel. It cannot sense the emotional state of the person asking the question. It cannot feel the hesitation behind a message. It cannot pick up on the energy someone carries into a reading.
And tarot is not just about knowing, it’s about seeing, feeling, and connecting beyond the knowledge.
2. Tarot Is Energy, Not Just Information
Here’s something I’ve learned after years of reading for people: The real magic of tarot isn’t the cards. It’s the energy exchange. When someone comes to me for a reading, something deeper happens.
Sometimes, people come to a reading because they need to be seen, because they need clarity, or because they need someone to hold space for them without judgment.
I don’t just “read cards.” I feel the person. I sense their emotional state. I pick up on what they’re not saying. I bring a higher understanding to their uncertainty, fear, hope, or confusion.
Many tarot readers, myself included, are natural healers. People sit across from me (or on the other side of a screen), and without saying much, their energy starts to shift. Not because I’m doing anything magical, but because presence itself is healing, and they leave a session feeling lighter, not because of what I said…but because of how they felt while being heard, and that’s something no AI can replicate.
3. Human Warmth Is Irreplaceable
You can ask AI a question and get an answer. But you can’t receive warmth from it. You can’t feel understood. You can’t feel energetically supported.
And that’s why even the most advanced technology will never replace a real tarot reading. Because even the most accurate message from a device will never make you feel the emotional presence, empathy, compassion, and spiritual connection a tarot reader can bring.
A live tarot reading, whether by video, message, or in person, carries human warmth, and that matters more than people realize.
I’ve done tarot readings with AI myself out of curiosity. They were interesting. Accurate in theory. Well-worded. But they lacked soul. There was no energetic exchange and no emotional resonance. So even when it was a great interpretation of the cards, it just didn't feel like it was meant for me.
Why People Still Choose Human Tarot Readers
Even in a world filled with technology, people still seek tarot readers because:
- They want emotional clarity
- They want intuitive insight
- They want to feel understood
- They want guidance that adapts to their energy
- They want a real human connection
AI can tell you what a card means, but a tarot reader helps you understand why it’s showing up in your life. That's the difference.
AI Is a Tool, Not a Replacement
Let me be clear: I’m not anti-AI. Actually, I love AI, and I think it is an amazing learning tool. It’s great for studying tarot and for helping you understand the symbolism behind each card. It’s great for beginners. But tarot was never meant to be mechanical.
Tarot is meant to be felt, interpreted, and even misunderstood, because the best readings I've done to myself are the ones that I click months or years after.
And that’s why, no matter how advanced technology becomes, people will still seek out real readers, not just for insight, but for connection. Because at the end of the day, tarot is about human warmth, bond, and feeling seen, heard, and understood.
So tarot will always belong to humans.
